Romania is located in south-eastern Europe and borders Ukraine, among other countries. Due to the war in Ukraine, the country has seen an increase in refugees. While some of the refugees remain in Romania, many also travel further west into the Schengen area.
The poeple are arriving with only the most basic necessities and the need for food, hygiene items and other everyday products is high. Together with our partner organisations, we support arriving refugees as well as those who are in transit.

Humanitarian aid in Ukraine
Against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, millions of people have already had to leave their homes, including many children and young people. According to the United Nations, 18 million people in Ukraine are dependent on humanitarian aid. AWO International has been active in emergency relief on the ground together with local partner organisations since February 2022.
