There is a gap in inclusive youth work in Europe. Many youth workers lack practical tools to better engage young people, especially disadvantaged groups, in democratic processes.
The ENGAGE project aims to equip youth workers - such as youth leaders, facilitators and trainers - with the necessary knowledge and practical methods. It trains young people and young adults on European values, inclusion and social justice, and promotes civic engagement. Supported by partner organisations EuroEd (Romania), New Horizons Foundation (Romania), INEX-SDA (Czech Republic) and Roudel (France), the project strengthens the active participation of young people and provides comprehensive resources for an engaged youth, committed to its values.
The central measures of the project include
-
Developing a strategy document on an inclusive approach in the work of educators and youth leaders, based on research involving at least 650 youth leaders, educators, and young people.
-
Creating codes of ethical communication and inclusion to address challenging situations within youth groups.
-
Designing an online course, including 10 modules and 20 practical methods/activities for active engagement in inclusive and democratic life.
-
Conducting 11 into action sessions at the international and national levels, involving over 100 young people.
-
Providing resources such as podcasts, videos, and infographics, along with a broad public awareness campaign.
Global education is essential to raise young people's awareness of the challenges and opportunities of an interconnected world. An international approach allows people to share perspectives, learn from each other and work together to find solutions to global and local issues. This is what makes projects like ENGAGE so valuable.
