In close cooperation with national non-governmental organizations, AWO International works to ensure that disadvantaged people can improve their living conditions sustainably. In the event of disasters, AWO International provides humanitarian relief and reconstruction. In Germany, AWO International focuses on the challenges and opportunities of globalization, educates and informs on the subject of development and provides input for value-oriented, sustainable action. AWO International advocates fair trade and distributes ecologically and ethically produced products.

Board
The board of directors at AWO International works on an honorary basis. As a rule, members are re-elected every four years by the general meeting. Board members do not receive any compensation from AWO International; travel expenses to the board meetings held three times a year in Berlin are borne by the sending organizations.

Team
The team is responsible for the coordination and implementation of projects in the field of development cooperation and humanitarian aid, carries out development education and public relations work and advises members on the implementation of their own projects abroad.

Together for a better world: AWO International is a member of various associations, alliances and networks. In this way, we maintain a lively professional exchange with other organizations, pool strengths and make use of synergy effects.

Transparency & Control
The transparent handling of donations and public funds is important to us. Every year, AWO International voluntarily undergoes an external audit. We are also a member of the initiatives Transparente Zivilgesellschaft (Transparent Civil Society Initiative) and Deutscher Spendenrat (German Donation Council).
