At least 900 people lost their lives following a massive flash flood on 26 August 2026. Over 4,200 people are officially listed as missing, and this figure is likely to be much higher. Approximately 10,000 people have been affected by the disaster in total.

Many return after years of displacement to find destroyed homes and fields, plus collapsed infrastructure. Access to sufficient, healthy food is barely assured. That's exactly where our project steps in: We help the most affected women and their families become self-sufficient and build prospects for the future.

Despite migrants’ crucial role on the country's economy, the country has inadequate systems to support them. AWO International and the Center for Migrant Advocacy Philippines (CMA) are focused on bettering migration policies for OFWs and their families.
