Together Against Hunger for a Sustainable Future

Food Security in Syria

In Syria, women and their families suffer most from the aftermath of war, displacement, and economic hardship. Many return after years of displacement to find destroyed homes and fields, plus collapsed infrastructure. Access to sufficient, healthy food is barely assured. That's exactly where our project steps in: We help the most affected women and their families become self-sufficient and build prospects for the future.

Women who provide for their families are at the center of our work. We support them in setting up kitchen gardens so they can better nourish their families while also generating their own income. Training sessions equip them with practical knowledge about healthy diets. At the same time, we strengthen local smallholder farmers by providing seeds, fertilizer, tools, and training in sustainable methods for growing vegetables and raising livestock. Livestock farmers receive additional support for animal health care and access to feed. We are also expanding a local food processing facility to handle larger quantities, creating jobs and improving the overall food supply in the region.

Stronger Together

As part of the project, a newly founded association unites producers and enables them to sell their products at local markets. Long-term agreements between the association and farming families ensure ongoing support and agricultural advice. A digital platform streamlines delivery coordination and improves efficiency. Women also receive legal and social support—for instance, with birth certificate registration, housing matters, or securing property rights. Regular meetings foster exchange and peer-to-peer learning.
