Cuba

Through our project work in Cuba, we are addressing the effects of an increasingly severe humanitarian and economic crisis that has escalated dramatically in recent years. Crumbling infrastructure and ongoing U.S. sanctions have placed a heavy burden on the population, resulting in poverty, repeated power outages, inadequate medical services, and chronic food shortages.

Together with the Centro Cristiano de Reflexión y Diálogo-Cuba (CCRD-Cuba), we are focusing on emergency aid: we are providing social services with food and hygiene kits and ensuring a reliable energy supply by installing solar panels. In this way, we are reaching out particularly to older people, children and people with disabilities, who are suffering most from the supply crisis. Families at high risk of poverty receive additional support to prevent malnutrition in children.

Counseling and Empowerment

The border city of Tapachula is one of the first stops for migrants on their way to Mexico or the United States. The migrants suffer from human rights violations and precarious living conditions. Our partner organisation "Centro de Derechos Humanos Fray Matías de Córdova" works to ensure access to rights and services for migrants, with a particular focus on women and girls.

Empowering women - defending human rights

Crime, sexual violence, poverty and structural inequalities are among the reasons why women flee their home countries to Mexico and the US. Access to protection and justice is complicated by many obstacles.
