What drives us
Smallholder farming families in Uganda are facing the impacts of climate change. Unreliable rainfall, droughts, floods and the loss of soil fertility are threatening their livelihoods. Women, children and marginalised groups are particularly affected by food insecurity. At the same time, they lack access to climate-resilient farming methods, markets and reliable disaster preparedness information. Together with our partner organisation, the Warrior Squad Foundation (WSF), we aim to address these issues.
How we work
We train smallholder farmers in climate-adapted farming methods, sustainable soil management and the efficient storage and preservation of crops. Village-based savings and credit groups improve access to financial resources and promote economic self-reliance. Mother-and-child groups improve the nutritional status of women and children by providing training and access to nutrient-rich foods. Through reforestation, riverbank restoration and early warning systems, we also strengthen communities' resilience to climate disasters.
Close to the community: The project team works closely with the communities in Kaabong.
