3 percent of Malaysia’s total population are international migrant workers. Around 690,659 individuals of this percentage are Indonesian migrant workers, which makes them the largest group of migrant workers in the country. 

In search of higher income, hundreds of thousands leave Indonesia every year and migrate to Malaysia, among other destinations. Many of them run the risk of becoming victims of abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking. AWO International advocates for safe migration and decent working conditions in both the country of destination and origin.
