Unequal opportunities for women and girls
In Buddhabhumi, a rural region in southern Nepal, many women and girls have few opportunities to lead a self-determined life. More than a third of women over the age of 15 cannot read or write, and many girls do not attend school. Poverty and deeply rooted traditions result in more than 62% of girls being married before their 20th birthday. This has serious consequences: early pregnancies are widespread, yet local health services are inadequate.
Food security is another major challenge. Many families struggle with malnutrition as traditional farming methods are not adapted to climate change. This is where our project comes in - together with our experienced partner organisation CEAPRED.
Women's groups have already made a big impact – for example, improving the nutrition situation for babies. We want to empower these women and strengthen them financially. I'll try my best to achieve this goal – I have to do it as a human being. It makes me happy to see the changes in the communities.

Sustainable agriculture and improved nutrition
To improve the nutrition situation, the project particularly supports female farmers. They learn sustainable farming methods and are given seeds and access to newly built irrigation systems. This enables them to grow vegetables in their own home gardens and better provide for their families.
Strengthening health: Education and healthcare
In addition to food security, a particular focus is on the health of women and girls. Many young girls lack access to knowledge about menstrual hygiene and reproductive health. The project therefore runs awareness campaigns in schools.
Mobile health facilities are being set up to provide preventative health care to mothers and girls. Additionally, "Female Community Health Volunteers" are trained – they provide valuable support in hospitals, health centers, and communities in the field of women's health.
Through these activities, we are helping to give women and girls in Nepal more opportunities for education, health and a better future.
