TOGETHER FOR A JUST WORLD

Nepal

Nepal is among the poorest countries in the world. Many people seek their fortune as migrant workers abroad: around 1,700 people leave the country through official channels. Labour migration is often associated with exploitation. There is often only a fine line between migration and human trafficking.

The severe earthquake in 2015 destroyed many development efforts in Nepal and the livelihoods of millions of people. In their hopelessness, many fall into the hands of human traffickers who promise them money abroad. Together with our partner organisations, we fight human trafficking and work to ensure that people migrate safely.
