Global Education

Our development education programme takes into account the challenges and opportunities of globalisation and provides impulses for value-oriented, long-term action, particularly in the field of workers' welfare and the AWO youth organisations.

Global Education raises awareness of global interdependencies and interrelationships and encourages people to think about globally responsible and sustainable ways of acting. Our range of workshops, materials and further training is aimed in particular at voluntary service and out-of-school youth work organisations and youth organisations. We offer workshops and seminars that provide information on the connections between the supply of affordable products in the countries of the Global North and the social and ecological problems of their production in the countries of the Global South. Inhumane and exploitative working conditions, destabilization of ecological systems and unjust world trade relations are central topics. The programmes also invite people to critically examine their own consumption habits and to develop criteria for responsible and future-conscious action. The Fair Shopping guide rounds off the programme. Our material and further training offer is aimed at full-time and voluntary educators who are active in extracurricular youth work, training and adult education.

MATERIALS

"New Perspectives on Flight and Migration" is a tool for educators in school and extracurricular youth and adult education. In five chapters the topic is examined from post-colonial, anti-racist, diversity and development perspectives. One chapter is particularly aimed at employees and volunteers in social work.

"Act for sustainable Development" is a guide on how to promote global justice and sustainability.
